The course was held at MANDEC which is a relatively new facility and is aimed at providing the highest standards of postgraduate education to the dental community, and this course delivers exactly that.
The speakers were
Chris Butterworth, a Restorative Consultant based in Liverpool, and
Paul Baker, a specialist in Periodontology who works in private practice. The mix is perfect. You get the expertise of both fields. The course length was 1.5 days.
The first half a day was spent being bombarded with theory, but the lectures were informative and well put together. The next full day was ‘hands on’. This was the most essential and fun part. We practiced free gingival grafts, pedicle grafts, connective tissue grafts. The speakers were very helpful and supportive throughout the day, passing on various tips. I walked away gum gardeningly happy.
Initially it may appear that this course is aimed at practitioners who have already some experience in ‘perio’ surgery. That simply is not the case. The course was appropriate for all levels of experience, there was something for everyone.
The ultimate question at the end of the day was, ‘would I recommend this course to practitioners’ and the answer is simply
yes.
